So, Tinkerbell had two versions, there was one that was going to be released but was scrapped, having Tink's story centered around imagination and there is the one we have now, having Tink's story centered around her own talent! I thought the story of the early version and how it got scrapped was very interesting so I'm sharing it with all of you! In fall 2007 the early version of Tinkerbell was set to release.
(Notice how different the animation , the outfits, and Pixie Hollow looks!) This style of animation was also used in the first Pixie Previews that were put up on Disney Channel back in the day!
Here's an analysis by artofdisneyfairies on tumblr made!
The original story seems to be that the fairies live off of imagination, with the ring of belief is very important to imagination and somehow Tink breaks it, of course she saves the day in the end! Sharon Morril, the head of DisneyToon Studios at the time noticed that this version of the story wasn't working so she asked for help from John Lasseter, who looks over Pixar & Walt Disney Animation Studios. He saw a special screening of the movie with a couple other higher ups and didn't like the ideas. He wanted to keep Tink in her own world of Pixie Hollow and have the Peter Pan characters out of the movie! Lassater didn't want the Peter Pan characters in it because the potential comparisions the movie would make with the original 2D animated Peter Pan movie. Within this time this version of the movie was about 80% animated.
The higher ups decided that the movie could be changed 50% in order to make it to the original 2007 release date, however there was still an option to push it back. Brad Raymond the director of the movie pitched Lasseter a new Tinkerbell story, which he loved,,,however it changed 90% of the story. This version was the one that ended up being the one that was released! Eventually, the higher ups pushed back the movie's release date to fall 2008 and the rest is history! I hope you enjoyed this (very long) story about the original Tinkerbell movie! I found it very intriguing!
I'm stuck in APUSH, and this thread was such a welcome relief! This is absolutely wonderful, thank you for putting it together so well!
Honestly I'm probably going to borrow a couple of ideas in my fic I'm writing, because they could be fantastic if they're just refined and polished up a little.
Thanks! Flaptastic work!
Have The Guts To Do Whats Right Even When Everyone Else Runs Away
Do you have any information about the original Secret of the Wings? When I got the DVD for Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure, it had a little card for the next movie. This movie was titled Tinkerbell and the Mysterious Winter Woods. Obviously this movie never came out, the next one that did was The Great Fairy Rescue, and when a winter movie came out it was Secret of the Wings. That's all I know about it. Do you know anything else about the original Pirate Fairy, back when it was called Fright Light and Zarina wasn't in it at all, a bolt of lightning changed their talents, hence the name? And there is the cancelled movie after Legend of the Neverbeast. So much Pixie Hollow lore. It'd be nice to see what could've been.
