Time to see where this tunnel leads.
~The Wand Madness was now so bad that the four wands that made it to Neverland were affecting almost every fairy. I say almost because the Belief Talents Prilla and Nene had greater resistance to Wand Madness, but knew not even they were immune. As it turned out, those that were a little too Complete were a little less susceptible, even Lavender, the tallest Garden Talent around. She knew her lack of speech would hinder her ability to make wishes with these wands on account of her Recompletion, but she couldn't help but wonder: since she wasn't that well-spoken, could she possibly use her skills to help the wands become good?
~Magnolia and Onyx were both Wand Mad! Even the normally gentle Saffron started fighting for wand rights with not only her friends, but other fairies too!
~"Oh dear," said Daylily, feeling her heart pounding far too fast. "Even the animals are overcome with Wand Madness. We have to do something."
~"The Belief Talents," suggested Foxglove.
~Unfortunately, only Prilla seemed immune granted she was still as Complete as before her only wish: Sara Quirtle's Completion without Subtraction from Prilla or her talent. Nene had taken a fifth wand, another Great Wandy wand, with her to the Mainland to grant many wishes to the children she encountered. Sadly, the wishes Nene kept granting were all by very selfish children that wanted more, more, more and already had more than they needed. By the time Nene returned, she was almost out of Pixie Dust.
~"Hold still, Nene," said Daylily as she had Nene raise both her arms, flew above and flew her to Dulcie's Kitchen to bake some new cookies. Daylily herself was almost out of Pixie Dust too, but worse Nene exhausting her dust than Daylily because 1. The wand Nene held wasn't as malicious as the other Great Wandy wand used to be, but it wasn't as good as that same was now either and 2. Nene needed to return the wands home, all five.
~The Wand Madness was spreading and escalating fast. Almost every Scout had Wand Madness now, along with every Tinker, Water Talent that wasn't also a Scout, almost every Animal Talent, even those that were also Scouts, along with the remaining Talents and soon only the Belief Talents, Mother Dove, Queen Clarion, Foxglove, Beck, Elixa, Phoebe and Daylily remained. Thankfully the Animal Friends had a little stronger Wand Madness resistance than even the Belief Talents, but Mother Dove still had the strongest Wand Madness resistance.
~"Daylily!" Violet Beacon called. "It's Ginkgo! She has the sixth wand!"
~"Six?!" cried Daylily. "Lead us to her except Mother Dove!"
~Beck decided to stay with Mother Dove.
~"Correction: except Mother Dove and Beck, lead us to Ginkgo!"
~The remaining fairies followed Violet Beacon quickly.
~Ginkgo hadn't made a single wish yet, but Daylily grabbed the wand just in time because that was when Ginkgo came to her senses.
~"What happened to me?" asked Ginkgo.
~"Three syllables: Wand Madness," answered Daylily, feeling her heart. "Prilla seems stronger than Nene in the resistance to Wand Madness because she's too Complete, but we need Nene's help in returning these wands home. The play wands are the only ones that belong here."
~"Uh, repeat that? I still can't hear that well."
~Daylily tried her best to repeat in sign her message, but it still wasn't coming in clear. It was then she realised, why not use simpler sentences in sign?
~"Wand?" said Ginkgo as Daylily pointed to the wand. "Prilla?" Same combo. "Fly? Crazy? Home? The wands make us crazy, so they have to go home and Prilla is our safest call?"
~"And that's all the pen wrote."
~Foxglove face-palmed at that sentence.
~"We should go before it gets worse," said Ginkgo.
~Unfortunately the Queen grew very Wand Mad again, so to keep her safe, everyone returned to the Royal Chambers, far away from the wands. Ginkgo and Daylily went alone to fetch the wands from everyone, but once they got every single magical wand they could carry together (24 now), it was time for Prilla and Nene to return the wands home. Most of them were Greater Wandy wands, but there were five Lesser Wandy wands and all five were awake. Saffron had the last Greater Wandy wand, which was the only Greater Wandy wand awake, but it was the naughtiest wand of all. Somehow she lost her Wand Madness. Just as Tink had done the first time the Wand Madness hit, Saffron heated her hands to melt the knots.
~"Are you ready to become a good wand?" Saffron asked gently. "Too bad; as of today, you will be once and for all, just like your friend so long ago."
~The wand wanted to cause even more mischief, but unlike Tink, who only touched the previous wand with her hands, Saffron knew this wand was eighteen times as naughty despite being only a little shorter than Daylily, who was significantly taller than her, ergo first she kissed the wand six times, one for each huge knot she found. Saffron felt the knots shrinking inside the wand and soon they were small enough to melt in her tiny hands. She also sang to the wand to soothe it because she knew the wand was very mischievous still. Finally, when the wand's knots were all molten straight, there was room for its heart to grow, making more room for good. Saffron gave the wand a seventh kiss, which made that wand want to reverse every selfish wish made during this Wand Madness epidemic, even the ones Nene granted the children, even the ones granted by other wands.
~"Oh, my goodness!" exclaimed Daylily as the wand Saffron cured rose, taking Saffron with it and reversing every last wish… except one, but who made the one and only selfless wish?
~Daylily, Foxglove, Ginkgo and Saffron delved deep into the wand Saffron cured, one hand each touching, but not until a fifth hand joined did the four girls who whose wish was the least selfish: Nene's. Except Nene didn't make her last wish for herself, she made it for a young boy whose grandmother suffered some serious memory issues and all the boy wanted was happiness for his grandmother again.
~"That is a selfless wish," said Foxglove.
~The wand agreed and decided to grant happiness to the grandmother with memory trouble in the form of simply regaining her fondest memories and tales, which she loved telling.
~"58 magical wands still abound here," said Saffron. "Including this and the other 23 you and Ginkgo carried."
~Foxglove, Saffron (still wielding the wand she cured), Daylily, Ginkgo and Nene all went about collecting eleven wands apiece, then Saffron took three more wands, the five flew to Prilla and it was time to return these wands home for real!
~After every last wand was returned to the Greater or Lesser Wandies, Neverland was finally cured of Wand Madness and every single Neverfairy forgot why they even wanted wands in the first place. They were all just happy to have enough of every item they needed again, happy to hone their talents and skills, busy but happy Neverfairies, just as it had usually been. After all, best to save those magical wands for the Wanded Fairies.
Hope you enjoyed this tale!
