Welcome to another tale from the mind of... yours truly.
~When the Garden Fairies received a new Gardener, some of the more fashion-forward Gardeners were excited, especially given how tall this new Gardener was, how long and curly and purple her hair was and how well her green irises went with both her purple hair and brown skin. Her name was Lavender Peachgarden and immediately after Arriving she noticed something wrong with her eyes... her vision was almost as blurry as Tansy Applebutter's, and neither could see well without glasses.
~"Make way, coming through!" called Tansy, an Acorn Harvester (because she wasn't allergic to acorns, unlike a lot of other flora harvested) as she flew to Lavender. "I amn't the only one with sight issues, you know!"
~Tansy took Lavender by the hand and flew her to the Summit Style to try on glasses. Lavender found a pair that looked a lot like Tansy's except instead of lavender like her namesake, they were green. She really liked how they looked and they even helped her eyesight a lot! Lavender also got some green clothes, but the thing was, Gardeners preferred wearing mainly pinks and reds (except a select few) while green was a Tinker colour. Not only that, almost every outfit was long-sleeved with shorts or a skort. Her favourite, however, was a pair of zigzaggy socks, a plaid longish-sleeved shirt with vest included and a pair of rompers, which were baggy shorts, in tie-dye. Not one piece perfectly matched except everything was green, but Lavender didn't care.
~When Lavender set to work gardening, one look at her footprints and she squealed in delight because all she had to do was walk in the dirt barefoot and she grew grass. She even dug in the dirt with her bare hands instead of guiding the seeds to dig into the dirt or using special gardening tools because she felt her skills worked better if she actually touched the dirt, explaining why she, like Daylily, would often work barefoot. She was often very lost in her work to the point she didn't notice the sun going down!
~There was another issue, but unlike the eyes, Lavender didn't notice right away, if at all... Lavender was very slow-spoken because she wound up curing the baby she was Laughed out of. Indeed the baby had complications until her very first laugh, but no more; now she was healthy and happy. Lavender was too happy to care that she wound up the way she did.
~"Okay, something's seriously wrong with her," said Snowflower, a Water Fashionista as she and her Fashionista besties Sammy (Tinker), Katrina (Animal), Victoria (Light) and Sunflower (Garden) eyed Lavender petting the dirt and making wheatgrass grow, then clapping and squealing.
~"Is she Incomplete or something?" asked Snowflower.
~But the opposite was true for Lavender, sort of: she was Recomplete, which meant Complete with some atypicalities for Neverfairies.
~"What’s all this?" asked Tansy as she landed near Lavender. "Wheatgrass?"
~Lavender nodded enthusiastically.
~"I'd better go; those acorns will not harvest themselves. Toodle-pip."
~Lavender then had the grass shaped into a hand to wave goodbye to Tansy, then she took of her shoes and rubbed her feet into the ground until she grew her namesake flower, then squealed happily. Little did she know Foxglove was flying overhead when the lavender that Lavender grew had collided with her, knocking her out of the sky! Lavender rubbed the ground and made a bed of grass grow just in time to protect Foxglove from a painful fall!
~"Foxglove, are you okay?!" called Primrose Winterglow, an Artist.
~"Ugh, what in Neverland hit me?" asked Foxglove.
~Primrose looked at the lavender flower, then Lavender, who was trying to make her namesake grow again... instead she grew...
~"Oh, look at that," said Primrose. "Our namesakes."
~"Can she even talk, though?" asked Foxglove.
~Lavender was having so much fun testing her powers that she eventually managed to grow a hickory sapling! She then grew a sycamore sapling, an aspen sapling and a redwood sapling and before long she was growing grasses, brushes, flowers, shrubbery and trees! Neverfairies enjoy their talents, usually, but Lavender was lost in another world altogether.
~Foxglove, usually not one to converse with just anyone until shesaw their potential, decided Lavender was cool enough for her, even if she was Recomplete. Primrose agreed, but...
~"You're hanging out with her?" asked Snowflower as the Fashion Five landed, Snowflower thumbing Lavender. "But she's not Complete like us!"
~"No, she isn't," said Foxglove. "And quite frankly, she doesn't care."
~"So she’s slow of speech and needs glasses, so what?" asked Primrose. "Not everyone fits the same mould."
~At this point Lavender managed to burrow a tunnel leading to a mole family before Robin, another Animal Talent, albeit apiphobic, popped out, as did Juniper, another Animal Talent, but she was not an apiphobe.
~"You really saved our wings!" said Robin.
~"If not for your digging skills, we'd still be trapped," said Juniper.
~Juniper and Robin hugged Lavender, who hugged them back.
~"But we can't leave these moles out here!" cried Holly as she crawled out from the burrow. "Moles are better adapted for the dark because they can't see as well in the light!"
~"And the Miners!" cried Saffron, also crawling out. "Not even the Miners can remain underground forever!"
~"Here's what we'll do," began Primrose.
~The plan was to have a few Animal Scouts take a Light Talent apiece with them underground, then rescue the Miners. Just one problem: Foxglove hated getting dirty.
~"Mysophobe," said Victoria, crawling in and increasing her glow before taking Holly back underground.
~Although Victoria was a Light Fashionista, she wasn't afraid to get filthy if she had to.
~"Where's Holly?" asked Daylily as she landed.
~Lavender crawled underground and left a trail of grass behind her that shaped itself into an arrow. Daylily began to follow, but not even her keen eyes were keen enough for the dark, so she tried coaxing Foxglove in the burrow, but Foxglove wasn't having it!
~"Oh, for the love of...!" exclaimed Tansy, lifting Foxglove off the ground into the burrow behind Daylily, the entire time with Foxglove complaining of the dirt.
~Inside the burrow were 71 Miners struggling to breathe, their lights dimming fast.
~"How are we going to get all 71 out of here by ourselves?!" cried Foxglove. "We can't carry them out in one go and if we take one at a time, the remainder could perish before we were done!"
~Lavender was too tall to stand up inside the burrow, but by digging a new tunnel aboveground leading to fresh air, she made a shortcut to safety. She then grew some wheatgrass and creeping ivy before having it wrap around 41 of the Miners' waists, having each girl take a Miner and having the remaining 25 join her in widening the tunnel. Once all 77 fairies were aboveground again, everyone was relieved, especially Foxglove, who liked to stay clean. As for the moles, they were very happy to be back underground and even happier that the new tunnels were structurally sound and efficient.
~From that day on, never again did the Fashion Five make fun of anyone that seemed a little off. In fact, they befriended Lavender and stood up for her when she got ridiculed for who she was, but Lavender was Lavender and that was how the petals descended.
Hope this was an enjoyable story!
