A Developer's Introduction

Thanks again for all of the welcoming comments!   I can definitely understand needing to earn a reputation for things like being a moderator —but I’m thinking that for behind the scenes stuff like development, putting in unpaid skilled labor would be one of the best ways to earn trust, no?

welcome back to the hollow! i believe that there is always work to be done, and im sure that the developers would appreciate the aid of someone as capable as another developer! a lot of the mods have been saying that there are enough members, which is true; we do have a BUNCH of mods. however, we currently only have two developers. not many people are capable of doing such extensive work, and i think that you could be an asset to the community! i really dont think its a sad reach^^^, i believe that you are appropriately interested in applying your skills and. i wish you the best of luck, and thank you so much for wanting to give back to this community! <3

I'm mostly a backend/enterprise developer, doing mainly Scala and Java, but lately I've been doing a lot of web development front and backend, so I can do html/css/js front end, javascript backend (mostly node and using mySQL as a database) or PHP, I've also done a little mobile development. I have a lot of experience with game modding and engine tinkering with C++. I've used some other languages as well, but whatever the stack I should be able to pick it up quickly enough.

Welcome! I'm also new here, but let me tell you, the community here is amazing! You'll be sure to fit in right away. It's nice that you included your skills in this introduction, it can help if they ever fall short or need extra help! I did that on mine too. But I don't believe you should jump into it right away, try getting to know everyone first and stepping up the ladder! I can't be certain, but I believe they're not looking for any new staff currently.

You wouldn't have to be given control of the game to help. Help is the word that stood out most to me. Ideas and programming skills can only help the game. Talking to Susie and seeing what she needs and what she will trust you with is what you should do. Also enjoying the community and getting to know everyone will earn trust.
