A fairy camp out
If fairy tale theater were to have plays to perform again, this is what I have in mind Characters (Fairies use their own names) A Tinker Fairy (labeled T in script) A Water Fairy (W) A Light fairy (L) A Frost fairy (F) A Garden Fairy (G) An animal Fairy (A)
Summary: 5 fairy friends are trying to have a camp out. However, seems they did not pick the best spot to set up camp. Setting: Forest pathlet, late evening
(The five fairies enter the forest pathlet) F: Wow this camp out is gonna be great. (F touches leavesalong the path coating them in frost) Figured I would practice L: Wow, it’s so beautiful. F: The frost is shinier than normal. Is it the light? L: Yes, it is reflecting off the frost. Isn’t it gorgeous (G notices a tent, made from natural and lost things) G: Is that our tent T T: Yes F: Oh, my goodness it’s great G: Thank you for putting it together. (The fairies fly inside) F: Anyone wanna play frost ball hot potato? All except F: Yeah let’s play F: (F goes to her bag but returns disappointed and emptyhanded): Sorry guys. It appears I forgot to bring something to frost. A: No problem. I happen to have an acorn. (she goes to herbag, gets an acorn and gives it to F) F: Thanks. (she coats it in a ball of frost) A: Game on! (The girls giggle and form a circle, tossing the frost ballaround. When it reaches A, it breaks) A: oh, dear I’m so sorry. F: (laughs) happens all the time. (F puts another frost ballaround the acorn and they keep playing L: I am having a blast, but it’s getting late, I’m gonna goto sleep T: me too G: me three F: me four A: Me five W: Me six (all of them roll their sleeping bags and pillows out andget snuggled up inside them.) All: goodnight (Suddenly, the girls are startled awake by the sound of a thunderstormstarting with a crash of thunder and a bright flash of lighting_ W: Don’t worry guys, this tent will keep out the water. Andit is in a position not to get struck. Right T T: yep, but how did you know that? W: just water fairy stuff. Besides this one was a shortstorm. Look (The storm clouds go away) L: Thank goodness (all except A sigh in relief) A: Shh, guys I hear something (She flies outside the tent, but it’s too dark for her tosee. She flies back in) A: it’s too dark for me to see what it is. L, could you pointa moon beam on it please) L: Sure (they both go out and see a mudslide coming fast towards thetent. A frantically flies back in the tent and zips it) L: MUDSLIDE! HEADING THIS WAY (W opens the zipper a crack to peek) W: The mudslide is too strong for the tent, everyone out!
( G flies to the door but the zipper is stuck) G: Guys it’s stuck F: Here let me try (she tries to open it. T flies over andtries to unzip it but is unsuccessful) T: it really is stuck (The storm starts back up, and the mudslide reaches theirtent and sweeps it away with them in it) F: Oh no, we are doomed!
T: no, we are not. Let me think A: Hey I got an idea, but I'm not sure it will work F: give it a try A: Well ok. G I need your help. (She takes her to the doorand asks her to look through the tiny hole) those trees over there are willow trees, right? G: yes A: When we get close enough, can you get 2 of the vines to growlonger and wrap around the tent G: sure, but it won’t hold it long. A: it doesn’t have to. I’ll call an owl over to help us T: That’s so clever L: Good luck (L and the other fairies cross their fingers. A watchesthrough the crack of the tent door) A: NOW!
( G makes 2 vines grow and wrap around the tent. Then A calls out to some owls. The first vine snaps W: Oh no (A continues to call. Finally, an owl swoops down and grabsthe tent, just before the last vine snapped) L: thank you mr owl A: it’s a miss owl. (the owl hoots) T: What did she say? A: She said she is gonna take ussomewhere safer, away from the harm of another mudslide. (The fairies feel the tent beinglowered) Then the strong owl grabs the zipper in beak pulling it down and settingthe fairies free. All of them hug her) A: Thank you (she notices they are ina cave on a hill, and the owl shows that it has a door. This is perfect. Thankyou (The owl flies away) W: We can still use the tent rightT? F: I hope so, I really like it T: of course, we can. Now let’s goback to sleep All: goodnight
