Hey Guys!
So I know that we already have tons of threads explaining how to make servers, but I've been asked a few times how to make the servers last longer (Minimize refreshes and prevent players from turning into 0s)
SO! SOME TOTALLY "EXPERT" TIPS FROM TWILI~ ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR SERVERS LAST LONGER!
DON'T USE HIDDEN RIDGE AS YOUR SERVER NAME!
Unlike most on my list, I really can't explain this one. Servers with this name seem to die the fastest (I've made a server and immediately gotten the 0 glitch before). There are so many other cool names that no one ever uses (scroll down the server name list), and I find the names towards the bottom to work best!
DO NOT RUN THE SERVER IN A NEW TAB!
This is one of those things that gets passed around as a rumor. Some say it helps, some say it doesn't matter. Truth being, software that is made with Construct 2 doesn't fully operate if it is an inactive tab, even if it isn't set to auto-pause when the "focus" is lost (tab switch). So if you're running into server problems, use a new window, not a new tab!
DO NOT MAKE A SERVER FOR THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PLAYERS POSSIBLE!
This might have been fixed in the update, as the largest server you can make now is 50 instead of 100, but I found that servers that have 20 or 30 spots worked better than the bigger ones with 50 (was 100) spots.
TRY USING CHROME/FIREFOX!
If you run the game in Firefox but also have Chrome (or vice versa!), try opening the server up in Chrome (Firefox), while playing the game in Firefox (Chrome) (What I usually do). This way, the two processes (client and server) run independently from one another. I do this a lot, and find that I have way less problems when I do this.
Hope that these tips can help someone who is having problems! ~
