Sheesh!! This one is going to be a challenge to judge.
On the plus side, you did put your heart into making it. I love the sensory feels in the opening and the interesting backstory you gave yourself.
Still, I noticed how the storyline took after a disaster movie. That calm, clear opening with a happy day that turns dark and its aftermath. The way characters are forced to stick together. The timeline years later....
I honestly am not sure whether this really fits the qualification of "A day in the life of your fairy or sparrow man". Yet, I have always been fond of disaster stories. There are a few typos here and there, yet that is an easy thing to miss when looking back over what has been written. Your eyes naturally tend to only swoop over the highlights.
Nevertheless, for what you have, WELL DOWN!! This was an enjoyable read. However, ~4,000 words is nothing compared to chapters I have completed (some are between 10,000 and 20,000 words).
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Now, on to the next one....
