Hot 3
So, I’ve made a FABC blog on the Tinkerbell DS game, so now I’ll do one on the Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure game. I’ve recently started a tradition to play this game every fall, and I love it. So, here’s a little guide of everything this game has to offer.
Story Mode
Story mode is one of the two modes you can play in the game. In this mode, you get to play as Tinkerbell and go through a ten chapter story of the Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure movie in Tinkerbell’s perspective starting with the plan to build the Pixie Dust Express. At the end of every chapter, you’ll be asked to save the game, but you can save the game any time throughout playing.
In the first few chapters, you’ll be in Pixie Hollow using the same map as Fairy Mode. You’ll be told where to go and who to talk to, but you can explore Pixie Hollow and talk to the different fairies, although you’ll only have to talk to major movie characters. To progress the story, you’ll either need to go to a specific location, talk to a specific fairy or click on a sparkle. In story mode, you’ll get to go inside Tink’s house even though you can’t decorate it and you’ll see the Queen’s chambers and the hall of scepters during one part of the story. Throughout the story, you’ll play simple minigames which you can’t lose.
In chapter 4, Tink will put on her adventure outfit and go out to Neverland. You’ll play a game where you have to fly your balloon and collect as many stars as possible. The rest of the story will be a side scrolling adventure which you can’t lose. In chapter 6, you won’t be able to fly so you’ll have to walk. Just like the previous chapters, you’ll be clicking on sparkles to progress the story or jump to specific locations. You’ll embark several different challenges throughout your adventure. The next minigame won’t be until the second to last chapter, and then you’ll play a minigame in the last chapter.
At the end of the story, you’ll end up back in Pixie Hollow (Harvest Promenade) and you’ll be able to fly again, although you can’t explore other parts of the Hollow. After the story, you’ll be able to play the story again, play one chapter at a time, or play one minigame at a time. For the balloon minigame, you can try to beat your high score on star collecting. When doing the story, you can continue where you left off or start a new game.
Creating fairies
The second mode in the game is Fairy Mode. In this mode, you get to create 5 fairies, each in a different talent. Most of the creation options are the same, but there are less hair color, wing and hair style options. You can change your hair front or back but not the color any time throughout the game.
Fairy Mode Stories
When you enter Fairy Mode, you’ll go to a talent selection screen. Tap a certain talent to play that story. If you haven’t created a fairy of that talent yet, you’ll create one. Each talent has a different story which involves preparing a certain thing for the revelry. There are usually 12 tasks in each talent with an exception of tinker talent with more than 12 tasks. Tasks can be simple and just involve talking to fairies, but they could also involve minigames and using your talent. Some tasks will involve preparing for the revelry and others will not.
The first task is always the introduction where you’ll be asked to meet three fairies of your talent with two not being major movie characters and the last one being your mentor fairy (with tinker talent, you’ll meet Bobble, Clank and Fairy Mary). Your mentor fairy will ask you to play a minigame.
At the end of one task in the beginning of the story, you’ll be sent to Harvest Promenade where you’ll be asked to see an overview of it. Each talent will make a contribution to the Harvest Promenade overview. The first part of the contribution (the flower bud or part of the lights) will appear some time in the middle of the storyline (you’ll be sent to Harvest Promenade then). After each talent finishes the storyline, the item will be completed (open flowers, finished ferris wheel). Every talent can see the contributions.
At the end of each storyline, Queen Clarion will greet you. After all storylines are complete, each of your 5 fairies will approach a few fairies of its talent and they’ll congratulate you on the contributions to the revelry.
Ingredients
You can gather ingredients in story mode, but you’ll only need to once. Ingredients are more useful in fairy mode. Similar to Pixie Hollow, you can find ingredients in the hollow and different ingredients are more common in different areas. There are some ingredients that are exclusive to one talent that can’t simply be gathered. There are some ingredients that can be collected using your talent and others that are only earned from minigames and given to you after you complete a task. You can also earn ingredients from spells.
Fairies will sometimes ask you for ingredients in quests. They’ll rarely ask for rare ingredients but when they do, you’ll have to use your talent to collect it even if you already have the ingredient. They’ll never ask you for rare flowers (the ones that can only be earned from minigames and task completion).
You can also use ingredients to make outfits and home décor.
Fairy Mode Minigames
Throughout each task, you’ll be asked to play a minigame. Each game will have a certain goal. If you don’t meet the goal, you’ll have to try again. If you don’t meet it again, you’ll have the option to use pixie dust to skip the minigame. If you do meet the goal, you’ll get 4 types of rewards. Two can be found in the hollow but the other two are rarer. The amount of rewards depends on how well you do.
You can replay minigames by talking to your “work fairy” which varies for each talent. For light it’s Moonglow, for garden it’s Idalia, for water it’s Hydrangea, for animal it’s Nollie and for tinker it’s Melior. If you’ll have to talk to your work fairy in a task, you can’t play the minigames until the task is complete. Each talent has a different set of minigames you can play and you’ll unlock it after you play it during the story. Some minigames are played only once during the story, but others are played twice. After playing a minigame twice, you’ll get to choose the difficulty when you replay it.
Outfits
In fairy mode, you can dress up your fairy. There are four outfit categories; top, bottom, headpiece and shoes. When you start, you’ll get one item in each category in two different colors depending on your talent. You can make more outfits by talking to Marianna who will always be in Tinker’s Nook. Most of the outfits are from the 2009 create a fairy and come in 5 different colors, one for each talent. Any fairy can have any color of outfit.
As you progress through your talent’s story, you’ll unlock more outfits including 3 talent exclusive talents. They’re all from Pixie Hollow, but they were shop items. They require a rare flower to create and you’ll play a little minigame when making it. You can also get “shop outfits” from spells.
Home decorating
The exterior of all the homes can be seen in all the game’s storylines, but in fairy mode you can go inside one of the homes depending on your talent. In fact, this is where you’ll end up after each task! You’ll start with two decorations depending on your talent, but any talent can get them.
If you want more decorations you can talk to Splice who will always be in Tinker’s Nook and give her ingredients in exchange for a decoration. There will be some decorations which aren’t available in Pixie Hollow. As you progress through your story, you’ll unlock more decorations as well as talent exclusive décor which require rare flowers.
As much as I love the decorations in this game, the home decorating system is very limited compared to the one in Pixie Hollow.
Talent powers
Each talent can do exclusive powers used to get special ingredients. There will be some quests where you’ll have to use that power. Here are the different powers.
Light: Some meadows will have light shining which you can collect light from. You can use that light to make rainbows, look for hidden ingredients and melt ice depending on the meadow.
Garden: Some meadows will have closed flowers and vines which you can open. Different plants will give you different ingredients.
Water: You can collect dewdrops and interact with fish in certain meadows
Animal: You can interact with animals to get ingredients
Tinker: In some meadows, you can tinker things by taking one item and putting it on the workbench and putting another item on that bench. You can use the item you tinker to break acorns and ice, dig and open the mysterious door. You can, of course, get rewards from that
So, that’s all I have to say about the game, but one more thing; in fairy mode the Minister of Autumn will always be in the Autumn Forest. You can talk to him if you want to enter a spell. You can get ingredients and special outfits from the spells.
